Bob recieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree from McMaster University and is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Western Ontario where he also received his Law Degree. He was called to the bar in 1974 and joined the Fergus law firm of Wilson & Jack established by J. A. Wilson in 1900. The firm has evolved to the present day Grant & Acheson in partnership with Smith Valeriote.

Personal enjoyment comes from hiking, travelling, cross country skiing, curling, gardening and foremost family and friends.
