Nicola Melchers maintains an active solicitor’s practice applying her extensive UK experience to her legal work in Ontario. Her specialties include business law, employment law and, real estate law.

Nicola qualified as a Solicitor in the UK in 1994 and worked in private practice for four years before moving to Lotus Cars International Ltd. as in-house counsel. While there, she was seconded to the Change Management team and helped implement a major strategic change program that was largely responsible for the Company’s turnaround in 2000. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009 and she joined SmithValeriote after articling with a firm in Kitchener.

Nicola holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of East Anglia in the UK and attended the College of Law in Guildford where she ranked in the top 5% of students passing the Solicitors’ Finals Examinations.

Nicola is a resident of Cambridge and is very active in the communities of Guelph and Cambridge; she has previously served on the Campaign Cabinet of the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Child Witness Centre. Nicola and her husband Andrew have two children who keep them busy. Nicola also enjoys running, snowboarding and home renovating.
